Bor society is the one of the Nilotic-Speaking groups in southern Sudan. The Sub-Dinka tribe of the Sudan is believed to cover vast areas of upper Nile region.
The Bor Dinka people manage their economic life style by growing a variety of agricultural crops, raising great numbers of livestock, fishing, hunting, and gathering wild fruits when necessary. They have gorgeous fertile soil and this helps them grow enough food for consumption and keep surplus for sale.
The area is blessed with plenty of rainfall throughout the entire year. At the time of harvesting, they always have good harvests and are able to keep vast amounts in their stores for the next seasons. The Nile River offers a good source of fish and fresh water for domestic use. This survival mechanism is simple and manageable

Their belief system is similar to the western world. They love and worship God. Their respect of others' customs and beliefs is what makes Dinka Bor unique among other communities in the world. Their values, customs, and taboos are just phenomenal. They have fantastic judicial systems where civil and criminal trials are held. When the "Bor Massacre" took place, their cultural heritage, social structure, and the will to survive, were destroyed by the genocidal activities; and thousands of women, men and children were confirmed dead.
It was a horrible and inhumane way of dealing with culprits. In the Bor area today, there are thousands of children, boys and girls who have been orphaned as their parents were murdered because of their religious faith. These children, widows, and widowers had no future. The area had never experienced the availability of health facilities, learning institutions, roads, electricity, modern water system and other essentials.
